At CCVSAR (Chelan County Volunteer Search and Rescue), our Off-Road Vehicle Unit (ORVU) is committed to saving lives in the most challenging terrains and conditions. Whether it’s steep trails, dense forests, snow-covered mountains, or rugged backcountry roads, the ORVU is equipped with specialized resources to respond rapidly and effectively.

Our Mission

To support search and rescue operations with highly trained personnel and reliable off-road vehicles, ensuring no location is too remote to reach when someone’s life is on the line.

Our Resources

Dirt Motorcycle Unit

The Dirt Motorcycle Unit specializes in quick response and navigation through narrow trails, steep inclines, and areas inaccessible to larger vehicles.

Capabilities:
- Cover large areas quickly during searches.
- Access remote and technical terrain efficiently.
- Transport essential supplies to stranded individuals.

ATV/UTV Unit

The ATV/UTV Unit is versatile and ideal for carrying personnel and equipment in rugged and unpredictable conditions.

Capabilities:
- Handle rough, uneven, or muddy terrain.
- Transport injured individuals with specialized attachments for safe extraction.
- Serve as mobile command posts for extended operations.

Snowmobile Unit

When winter conditions create barriers for other vehicles, the Snowmobile Unit steps in to navigate icy trails and snow-covered landscapes.

Capabilities:
- Reach victims in avalanche-prone or snowy areas quickly.
- Patrol vast snowfields for missing individuals.
- Deliver critical supplies like food, blankets, and medical gear.

4×4 Unit

The 4×4 Unit operates in environments requiring powerful, reliable vehicles to traverse rugged trails, steep inclines, and deep-water crossings.

Capabilities:
- Access remote areas for search, rescue, and recovery missions.
- Carry personnel and supplies to staging areas or directly to those in need.
- Provide towing or winching assistance during emergencies.
